What an AMAZING experience our Rainbow Team had competing in the McCallum Theatre's 2019 Open Call! Having practiced together for nearly two years and after a week of grueling but exciting theater rehearsals, our group took the stage and performed in four sold out shows in April. The ovations from all four audiences in the 1100+ seat theater was astounding and incredibly thrilling!
We performed the beautiful medley of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow / What A Wonderful World" as arranged by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. We also had the amazing opportunity to work with the McCallum's brilliant creative team as part of the Finale performance, along with our talented competitors (17 individuals and groups) -- a cast of 122!
The awards were announced after the final evening's show and . . . (drum roll please) . . . we won our category: Best Mixed (Instrumental and Vocal) Performance!!!
For our win, the Rainbow Team received prize money (which we promptly donated) and a Congressional Recognition signed by our Congressman!
